Well, it's time to break another long silence here on the internet. I'm writing this in the middle of the sixth and final sunnO))) tour for this year, though technically it's a 'new' year. We are happy to be in Europe again with our friends Eagle Twin. A huge thank you to all who have been at these shows! It's been exciting to hear the music grow. We will have some more shows in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned.

Many new things SHOULD be happening for Stebmo in 2010 -- a web store via The Connextion, the release of some live recordings and a new album featuring many of my mentors, including Julian Priester, Bill Frisell, Eyvind Kang, Skerik, Karl Blau...the list goes on. In February, I will be back on the west coast, playing solo shows in Seattle and Portland. Come on down...

A belated THANK YOU to all who came out for the Earth tour in Europe... Stebmo got a warm reception opening the tour and it was a great start to 2009. You can see a couple videos from the tour here. The STEBMO LP is out in the UK/Europe via Invada Records.

Just posted are the tour dates for sunnO))) this summer... a midwest journey with Eagle Twin and then back to the west coast where we are joined by The Accused. The newest album is a masterpiece, but the only way to fully understand this music is to dip in for the live experience. Potent and highly recommended.

It's been a relatively quiet fall here in Seattle, as everyone prepares for whatever the spring might bring us. Stay tuned for a bunch of show announcements for early 2009 in Seattle with Matt Chamberlain and Stebmo, along with some European tour news from Earth, STEBMO vinyls and much much more.

About a month ago I had the great honor of performing some music with Eyvind Kang - it was called "Grass". The music itself dealt with harmonic concepts and microtonality... some of the most moving music I've ever been involved in, it was brought to life by so many great players, including Julian Priester and Stuart Dempster. Since then I've drawn much inspiration and found a lot of truth in Eyvind's words on the subject, which accompanied the program notes. You can read them here.

Hello world! I'm fresh back from your ever busy (and busier) highways and flyways. A great tour of Ireland, the UK and Europe with Earth and a quick, but MUSICAL trip to the 'south' with the Bill Frisell Quartet. I'm so honored to be playing with Bill, Kenny and Eyvind. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows and supplied some energy for new music.

Earth had a great moment for our non-existent 'reality' show when the Prime Minister of Belgium got mixed up with us in line at Dour Fest. He got our backstage passes. Not kidding. We've had an incredible spring traveling Europe twice and seeing most of the US... and we're about to do it again! If you navigate to the shows page, you'll find upcoming shows with Bill Frisell, Stebmo and Earth -- we have plans to tour the east coast and get back to Europe before 2009.

Time flies 'on the road' and I'm back in Seattle just long enough to do my laundry... twice. The shows page is getting filled up with three Earth tours, a Stebmo tour and even a few gigs with Bill Frisell coming up in the summer time. I'll be almost everywhere, so check in often or hop on the mailing list!

Many recordings are on the way too, including a new album from Your Heart Breaks, a live record from sunnO))), a new project with Greg Anderson and Gentry Densley called ASCEND and the official release of STEBMO - you can now pick the album up at stores in North America and through iTunes as of May 1st. I'll be out touring in support of Skerik's Maelstrom Trio in the Western US this spring... hope to see you all out there!!!

A bunch of traveling is in store here for the beginning of 2008 - first up, a week long tour of the northeast with Karl Blau, one of my musical heroes! Check the shows page and come find us... Karl's music is completely magical. Earth will be in Europe for February, celebrating our new album "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull", with more dates to follow in the US and Australia. Come on out, say hello and enjoy some MUSIC! Hope to see you there, wherever that is...

News is slow to break here at stebmo.com - so, we are late in reporting that the Laura Veirs/Decemberist's tour has been cancelled! Back in Seattle to face the winter, but not for long. Many new tour dates have been added - mostly with Earth and sunnO))). Please come out to a show if we make it your way! A few new albums have been added to the music page as well, including the newest album from Eyvind Kang - The Yelm Sessions. Eyvind is the most incredible composer and every single one of his albums is a masterpiece. Definitely check it out ASAP!!!

Well, it's almost Fall and that means it's time to unwrap the new website!!! Never ending thanks to Clyde Petersen at do it for the girls productions for creating this beautiful beast... and again to Stephen O'Malley for his incredible photography, artwork and design. This page is here now to celebrate the brand new album STEBMO... I can't say just yet where or when it will be released, but it won't be long! Of course, you can hop over to the Me Space page and hear a few tracks from the record... I've had a nice little break from touring and I'm getting ready to hit the road again with Laura Veirs this fall and Earth in the new year. There are a bunch of other recordings that I've been a part of coming out soon as well from Earth, sunnO))), L.A.K.E., Thao Nguyen, Jim White, Sufjan Stevens and Eyvind Kang. All awesome, all the time!
